It’s been a while….

Okay so the last time I posted on here was like two/three months ago. Which is a while. But that’s what happens when work and uni are both a thing.

So I started my job in August, and it was pretty okay at first. I can’t specify anything about it, because it’s in my contract that I can’t say anything negative, but we ended up severely understaffed, which means we are ALL overworked. After being put on a run of shitty close shifts, and then being scheduled in for 12 hours more than I’ve repeatedly told them that I’m available for, and being scheduled in on a day that I’ve repeatedly told them I cannot work, I’ve decided to hand in my notice at the end of this week. So no more ridiculous nocturnalness from working stupid hours, and I can focus on my degree and my voluntary work.

Also in the past two months, I hit 6 months on T, I’ve lost about half a stone and (physically) I’m feeling pretty good about myself. Mentally I’ve gone a little bit down the drain, but I feel like that’s going to improve once I’ve left my job. I’m getting a new laptop to do my dissertation that is a sort of (very) early Yule present to myself and a reward for managing to keep up my grades through the shitshow of online bullshit that was last academic year (and also so that I can have a laptop that I can take to uni that doesn’t weigh a ton and can actually cope with the software that I need), and a smartwatch to replace my FitBit because the screen on that decided to conk out.

I’m hoping that now I have some more free time after quitting my job, I’ll be able to get back to keeping up with this blog and being useful/informative a bit more often. Hopefully my voluntary work will give me the experience I need to apply to a new, better, more-useful-to-me-for-my-doctorate job that’s more flexible and like double the pay.
